Herba Clinopodii extract is derived from the dried aboveground part of Clinopodiumpolycephalum(Vaniot) C.y.weethsuan or Clinopodiumchinensis(Benth.) o.Kotze of the labiaceae family.
The extract contains flavonoids, saponins, amino acids, coumarin and so on. The main flavonoids are balsamin, hesperidin, isosakurin and apigenin. The saponins include ursolic acid, saponin A and so on. The physiological active ingredient is triterpenoid saponin.

The extract has the following pharmacological effects
1. Hypoglycemic effect
