Bacillus megaterium is an important phosphate-solubilizing bacterium widely used in agricultural production. Optimizing its cultivation and using it as a microbial fertilizer can improve soil fertility and increase production and income. In recent years, with the widespread application of microbial fertilizers in agriculture, Bacillus megaterium has been studied in depth for its phosphate-solubilizing effect in soil. It is a commonly used bacterial species for industrial production of phosphate-solubilizing and potassium-fixing fertilizers. It also has a unique role in water treatment and improving the aroma enhancement effect of tobacco leaf fermentation.
Bacillus megaterium can degrade organophosphorus pesticides and aflatoxins. Researchers isolated three strains of Bacillus that can degrade methyl parathion and methyl parathion from soil that has been contaminated by organophosphorus pesticides for a long time, two of which are Bacillus megaterium. Bacillus megaterium TRS-3 has a removal effect on aflatoxin AFB1, and its fermentation supernatant has an ability to degrade AFB1 of 78.55%.
