The polysaccharide is mainly composed of monosaccharides such as mannose, glucose, galactose, fructose, galacturonic acid, arabinose and glucuronic acid.

has the effect of lowering blood sugar. Radix polygonatum can improve diabetes mellitus and its complications obviously. Radix polygonatum polysaccharide can inhibit α-glucosidase.
It can reduce fasting blood glucose and glycosylated hemoglobin levels, increase plasma insulin levels, increase plasma malondialdehyde content and reduce superoxide dismutase activity in diabetic mice. Therefore, polygonate can reduce retinal vasculopathy by reducing blood glucose and inhibiting oxidative stress response.
By increasing the production of short-chain fatty acids, polygonate regulates the relative abundance and diversity of intestinal microbial community, promotes the restoration of intestinal permeability barrier, inhibits the entry of lipopolysaccharides into the circulatory system, alleviates inflammatory response, and ultimately prevents the disorder of lipid metabolism.
Application:
1.Lower blood sugar
The polysaccharide of Polygonum flavescens can increase plasma insulin and C-peptide levels, indicating that polygonum flavescens has obvious hypoglycemic effect.
2. Prevent cardiovascular disease
The polysaccharide contained in Polygonum flavescens can reduce the concentration of total cholesterol and triglyceride in blood, and prevent the occurrence and development of vascular endothelial inflammation, so as to achieve the purpose of preventing arteriosclerosis.
